Specifically, when asked why more collision shops aren’t doing ADAS work now, Gerber responded that “most shops have yet to sit down and do a careful analysis of how they could get in on ADAS work (…) although shops that have taken that step are definitely ahead of the game.” Without performing measurement and alignment work, “you give up control over the quality of the work but retain responsibility for it,” Gerber noted. “You give away most of the profit but retain all of the liability.”

With vehicles becoming more and more technologically advanced, alignment and measurement systems are becoming a more than necessary step in ensuring that the quality control and safety of the vehicle remain intact. Especially when it comes to electric cars and their batteries—which, if damage is left unnoticed, can set themselves on fire days after a collision.
